More About Logitech Gaming Software
Logitech Gaming Software, often shortened to LGS, is the configuration app Logitech built for its G-series peripherals, covering gaming mice, keyboards, headsets, speakers and select steering wheels. It handles the settings that give those devices their character: button and G-key assignments, recorded macros, switchable DPI stages, RGB lighting and headset audio controls, all organised into profiles that can attach themselves to individual games and switch over automatically when one launches. Two capabilities in particular explain why people still look for it. Supported devices can store a profile in onboard memory, so the configuration travels with the hardware and applies on any PC without the software present, and the LCD panels on keyboards such as the G15 and G19 depend on LGS to function at all. The software is free, with no account, licence key or subscription attached, and settings are kept locally on your PC rather than in a cloud service. The important consideration is its status: LGS is legacy software that Logitech replaced with G HUB, its published Windows release notes end in 2018, and it predates Windows 11, so no current compatibility commitment covers it. Running it alongside G HUB on the same machine also tends to cause conflicts over which app controls a given device. That narrows the audience considerably. If your Logitech G hardware dates from roughly 2018 or earlier and the newer app either ignores it or offers only partial control, this remains the official way to reach its settings; if your gear is recent enough for G HUB, that is where your configuration work belongs instead.
